Roche Diabetes Care has partnered with OurPath to promote its innovative programme throughout the UK and Ireland. The evidence-based digital programme is designed to help people build healthier habits by encouraging sustainable weight loss and behavioural change.1

Recent NHS statistics indicate that more than half of the adult population is overweight or obese2 and that more than a third of adults in England are at risk of developing Type 2 diabetes.2 But research demonstrates successful lifestyle intervention can significantly reduce diabetes development.3 OurPath, a health technology start-up founded by two Oxbridge graduates, is backed by leading experts on the science of sustained weight loss.4,5

Roche Diabetes Care’s strong heritage has been built on pioneering innovation over the past 40 years and ‘digital therapeutics’ is undoubtedly an exciting new phase of healthcare revolution. So with both Roche and OurPath having a shared ambition to empower people to make sustainable changes for the long-term, the partnership was formed.

What the partnership offers

OurPath in partnership with Accu-Chek® offers people the opportunity to sign themselves up to the digital programme. Users are assigned their own health coach who assists with goal-setting, provides tailored nutritional advice, daily encouragement and evidence-based education articles via the smartphone app. Additionally, the app enables small groups of users to connect with each other and their coach, ensuring support is available in a flexible way to fit into users’ daily lives. The programme content promotes positive mindset shifts and addresses a range of important health topics including nutrition, sleep, physical activity, and stress management. Included in the programme price is a starter kit containing valuable tools including: smart weighing scales*; a wearable activity tracker*; recipe book and handbook to support users as they progress through the programme.

OurPath were announced as one of 5 digital providers of the Healthier You: NHS Diabetes Prevention Programme in November 2017. The NHS programme is running in 8 pilot areas in England and up to 5,000 patients will be recruited over a six month period, and will be given access to the digital interventions for up to 12 months.5

The partnership with Roche Diabetes Care will see the OurPath programme offered to the wider population at a much quicker pace. Anybody who would like to invest in building healthier habits for themselves is able to sign up for the programme online, and thousands of people across the UK have already taken up the mantle.
