Osteoporosis

Making a difference in osteoporosis

Osteoporosis is a ‘silent’ disease of the skeleton that makes your bones fragile and more likely to break.

Approximately three million people in the UK have osteoporosis, and there are over 230,000 fractures every year as a result (Source:NHS Choices). One in two women and one in five men over the age of 50 will break a bone, mainly due to osteoporosis (Source:National Osteoporosis Society). The incidence of osteoporosis is set to increase further as the population ages.

Roche is committed to providing patients and their medical teams with innovative diagnostic tools and medicines to treat this disease. The future promises further innovation, thanks to our focus on personalised healthcare - an approach that specifically takes into account emerging knowledge about the molecular pathology of diseases and of patients’ individual characteristics.
